Don Peterson, Music Director
Our choirs have been busy preparing for this last week of Lent, Holy Week with special music devoted to vocal and handbells. The Chancel Choir along with the Lampasas Community Cantata Choir have been preparing the cantata that will be presented this Friday at 2 p.m. in our church sanctuary. Resurrection Sunday will be a time for joy and celebration as we experience our risen Lord in scripture, word and song.
The month of April we will begin a new sermon series and different styles of music. Please mark your calendars for April 29th. We will have a blended service at 10:30 a.m. followed by a covered dish dinner. It’s always a special time for these blended services so our contemporary and traditional services can worship together.
I’m still looking for instrumentalists from our congregations, both contemporary and traditional, who have had experience playing instruments. If you still have an instrument or can borrow one start brushing up on your playing technique with scales and sounding long deep tones. That’s always an effective way to rekindle your musical talents. I’m not going to ask you to play a solo, that is unless you wish to. But I’m wanting to add instruments that can play during the singing of hymns and special anthems that the Chancel Choir might present. If you are interested, please contact me.
The Peterson family has a celebration. Our son Jon and his fiancée Joscelyn exchanged wedding vows on Friday, March 16th in Georgetown, TX. We celebrate their union as husband and wife. God bless them and the congregation at FUMC, Lampasas, TX.
